Microinsurance Learning Sessions

The Learning Sessions complement the International Microinsurance Conference. They are designed to address topics that are particularly relevant to a country or a region and to reach out to local experts. The events are organised jointly with international and local partners.

Policy-makers fostering microinsurance development in Asia

The second Inclusive Insurance Asia Public Private Dialogue (PPD) and Learning Sessions closed on 16 March 2017 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Around 70 attendees from 10 countries, including high level representatives from the insurance industry and regulatory authorities of the six MEFIN-member countries (Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and Vietnam), discussed market development strategies to improve access to insurance. >more

Mobile Insurance Conference - 23-24 February 2017, Douala, Cameroon

The first Mobile Insurance Conference closed on 24 February 2017 in Douala, Cameroon, after two days of intensive discussions on how to overcome barriers and seize opportunities in using mobile technologies to enhance access to insurance of low-income populations. One hundred participants from 26 countries, including 50 representatives from regulatory authorities, attended the conference. >more

The event provided participants with an opportunity to share knowledge and learn from other parts of the world. In global terms, African citizens remain the most vulnerable people with the least access to insurance. To change this situation in its country, the government of Kenya is aiming at a more inclusive and competitive financial services sector, in which microinsurance is to play a key role, by 2030. Ideas that challenge conventional insurance approaches seem to be the road to growth.
